New Patriotic Party(NPP) Flagbearer Aspirant, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto says he is sure the NPP delegates will vote for him to become Presidential Candidate because he really performed well when he was the Agric Minister.

He said the delegates will also vote for him because of the support he gave the President, Nana Addo Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in farming.

Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto recently resigned from his position as an Agric Minister to contest for the Flagbearer seat of the NPP.

He will be contesting the likes of former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, and also the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwa, Dr. Afriyie Akoto said he is vying for the Position of the Flagbearer not only because there is vacancy but because he has paid his dues and can do more for the country.

“When you are in politics and there is a vacancy, you have to aim to get to the top. It is not just about getting to the top, if the NPP delegates look at the work I have done to support President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in Agriculture, there is nothing they can stand on to say they are going to support somebody else. Because all those abroad and in Ghana can testify that farmers have gotten better places to sit,” he said.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto also said as Former Agric Minister, he did not sit in the office alone to work, adding that every year, he went to the grounds, interacted with farmers and traditional rulers to ask them of their challenges in order to help them.
