Int. Women’s Day: ASWIM organises workshop for women in media

As part of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, the Association of Women in Media (ASWIM) held a workshop on the theme,”Changing the Image of Women in the Media.

The beautiful programme which took place at the International Press Center in Accra was attended by high-profile personalities, phenomenal retired and promising young female journalists in the country.

One of the Guest speakers, former Acting General Manager of the Ghana News Agency, Mrs Yaa. Ofori Peasah spoke extensively on the portrayal of women in advertisements, entertainment contents and stereotypes.
She expressed worry over the unfortunate image of women created in the media.

Former Director of television at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Mrs. Betty Apau-Oppong who shared golden nuggets on electric media (social media) called for a consistent profiling of women achievement to help shape and project a right image of women in the media space.

Moreover, the President of ASWIM, Mrs. Mavis Kitcher highlighted their plans and determination to project women in the media space.
