I will rather invest in drones than “flying” guinea fowls – Nana Addo

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo says he will rather invest in drones than guinea fowls that will fly off to neighboring countries.

The Ministry of Health signed a Letter of Intent with the developer and operator of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, popularly known as drones, to offer a drone-enabled supply chain solution in Ghana that will ensure secure, reliable and timely deliveries of essential health care products to hospitals and other health facilities.

The Service, which will be designed, installed and operated by USA-based Zipline International Inc. in partnership with the Ghana Health Service, will leverage technology to improve the supply chain of critical medical supplies, reduce waste and save lives.

Speaking at the Media encounter at the banquet hall of the Jubilee house, Akufo Addo stated that the drone system will save lives and will bring relief to the health sector and that it will not be run on the public budget.

He also added that the NPP administration has paid all arrears on the NHIS and has brought the scheme back to life.
