Involvement of military in civil matters threatens Ghana’s democracy-Security Analyst

Security Analyst and Executive Director of Jakitey Security Services, Adib Saani, says the continuous involvement of the Military in civil matters is now becoming a threat to the country’s democracy.

According to him, the recent activities by the Military in interior affairs shouldn’t have happened adding, “it shows a recap of Ghana under Military rule”.

Mr. Sani’s comment comes after some military men killed two protestors at Ejura in the Ashanti Region while in the Upper West Regional Capital of Wa, some military officers molested and harassed some civilians over an alleged missing phone.

Speaking in an interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Mr. Sani said, the continuous involvement of the Military in interior affairs will break down the civilian-military respect which has existed for a very long time.

Citing the Wa incident as an example, Adib Saani said, the Military has downgraded the level of respect the Civilians had for them adding that they could be rejected by the general  public  since they would be regarded as their enemies.

He said, the military are purposely trained for war and not handle  interior conflicts
