IWD 2024: NGO holds women leadership summit

Developing women for skills and opportunities (DWoSO) Initiative, a feminist organization that centers all self-­ identifying women and girls through education and advocacy, poverty eradication programs and skill development has held women leadership summit to mark this year’s International Woman’s Day (IWD).

DWoSO in partnership with the widow’s association and a Christian women group (S.D.A) empowered over 140 women in Effiduase in the Ashanti region.

The community outreach lead for DWoSO, Beatrice Antwiwaa, took the women through the need to celebrate women and the importance of International Women’s Day.

Speaking on the theme, “inspire inclusion”, Beatrice Antwiwaa, educated the women on why inclusion is important in the fight for gender equality and the liberation of women. She urged women to be accepting of all groups of women regardless of tribe, age, color, or religious affiliation.

The women were also taken through the importance economic empowerment for women and how it can accelerate progress. She emphasized that a woman who has money has power therefore every woman should strive to have economic power.

In addition, the women were sensitized on the benefit of investing in your health as a woman and were given HIV education as well.
