A member of the Juaben Municipal Assembly, Simon Adjei, says the cash given to the assembly members in the Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region were mere gifts which cannot be repaid.
This comment by the Assembly Member comes after a fight ensued between the president’s nominee for the Juaben Municipal Assembly position and the assembly member of the area.
The President’s nominee Alex Sarfo Kantanka, who has been rejected for the second time, threatened to assault the assembly members for failing to vote for him after taking his money.
In a video which has gone viral, the rejected MCE was seen demanding monies he allegedly paid to the assembly members to motivate them to vote for him.
In the video, the nominee was seen hurling insults and curses at some individuals believed to be Assembly members demanding the return of monies paid to them.
“ You will pay the money back to me. You took my money and you did not vote for me…,” the MCE was seen shouting.

Reacting to the video on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Simon Adjei, insisted that the assembly members will not repay any money to the rejected MCE.
According to Simon Adjei, the assembly members did not force the MCE to give them any money.
“ He called all the assembly members and informed us that he had gifts for us. We did not sit down with him to demand any money to vote for him and so we do not know what he is talking about. He gave us gifts and I’m not sure gifts are supposed to be repaid,” Simon Adjei told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police on Monday 1st November, 2021, arrested the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Alex Safo Kantanka, to assist Police investigations over possible bribery.
