Kasoa: 26 suspected internet fraudsters arrested

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested some 26 Nigerians, suspected to be internet fraudsters in Ghana.

The suspects including two females were arrested by the police based on intelligence and were arrested at Ironcity, a suburb of Kasoa from three houses occupied by them.

During the raid,, the police retrieved 31 laptops, 26 assorted mobile phones, 3 machetes and some dried leaves suspected to be cannabis including some toffees suspected to be containing cannabis.

DCOP Okyere Boapeah, the Central East Regional Commander explained that the alleged fraudsters are currently being screened for onward prosecution.

“The Central East Regional police command is poised to ensuring the drastic reduction of crime within Kasoa and its environs,” he said.

DCOP Okyere Boapeah admonished Ghanaian landlords who rent out their apartments to foreigners, particularly Nigerians to conduct proper background checks on them including finding out about their eligibility status from the immigration service before renting out their houses to them.

In other news: Filling station robber arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect, Iwejuo Anthony alias Chibona, who together with others attacked and robbed the Pacific Filling Station at Krokowhe, near Ashalaja in the Greater Accra region, at dawn of 5th June, 2021.

According to the police, the suspects assaulted and tied fuel attendants, broke into the metallic safe of the filling station and stole unspecified amount of money, a laptop and other items.

However, with security interventions laid by the station owner, coupled with his bravery and support of neighbours, the suspect was arrested.

The police reported that some of the items stolen and a heavy pointed metal bar was retrieved from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Police said that efforts are underway to arrest the other suspects.

“Police continue to appeal to the public to make personal security a priority as was done by the owner of the Krokrohwe Pacific Filling Station, leading to the arrest of the suspect. The Police is for the public as security is a police-public partnership,” the Police said.
