Barnabas Annan, the spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ahanta West Constituency, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, says the lawmaker is not dead as it is being rumoured.
The comment by the MP’s spokesperson comes after rumours spread that the MP, who is also the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, had died.
People have already started predicting an imminent by-election in Ahanta West.
Debunking the rumours in an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Barnabas Annan stated that although the lawmaker was critically sick the family was still praying for him.
He noted that the MP has been discharged from hospital and is being treated at home.

According to Barnabas Annan, Ghanaians should rather pray for the MP instead of peddling false rumours.
He called on media houses peddling the rumor to desist from the act as it has the tendency of causing fear and panic.
“It is not true that the honorable Kojo Kum has passed on. This rumour started on Saturday. But I want to assure you that the MP is alive. The MP was not well for a while and we are still praying for him after being discharged from hospital He is not dead,” Barnabas Annan, the spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ahanta West Constituency, Ebenezer Kojo Kum told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.
