KPONE: NPP supporters demand removal of MCE for causing party's defeat

Hundreds of NPP supporters in the Kpone Katamasno Constituency are calling for the removal of their Municipal Chief Executive, Solomon Tettey Appiah for orchestrating the party’s defeat in the December 7th election in the area.

The aggrieved party supporters who have been demonstrating in the area for the past two days want the president to a matter of urgency sack Mr Solomon Appiah for his role in the party’s loss of votes in both the Parliamentary and presidential results.

The just ended election saw the NPP parliamentary candidate, Hopeson Adorye who was tipped by pollsters to annex the seat, poll some 39,546 votes as against the NDC’s Joseph Tettey, who polled 51,775.

Some party supporters believe the NPP parliamentary candidate could have won the constituency elections had it not been the skirt and blouse voting pattern preached by their MCE Solomon Appiah, whose campaign against Hopeson Adorye began the very day the later won the NPP Parliamentary primaries.

Carrying placards which read “God will punish you, Solomon Appiah’, “Sack Solo now,” “Solo can’t be MCE Anymore” among others.

The constituency election coordinator, Prince Dadzie Assumang, briefing the media said, the Kpone Katamasno MCE has done more harm than good to the growth of the party.

He alleged the MCE shared money as well as covid relief items to some constituents, just to influence them to vote against Hopeson Adorye.

They warned that they would quit the party if the MCE is not sacked.
