Late Francis Sasu to be buried on January 18

The late Head of News and Current Affairs at Atinka Media Village, Francis Sasu, will be buried on January 18, 2019 at his hometown, Obo-Kwahu in the Eastern Region.

The late Sasu’s family disclosed the date at the one-week memorial service held for their son at the forecourt of Atinka Media Village at Avenor in Accra.

Mr. Sasu, whose journalism career spanned over three decades, died at his residence at Amasaman exactly a week ago after visiting the hospital for a checkup.
Hundreds of sympathizers and well-wishers stormed Atinka Media Village Wednesday to honour the celebrated journalist.

Staff and management members  of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) where the late Sasu worked for 37 years, paid glowing tribute to their departed colleague . They were led by their Acting Director of TV, Johnnie Aryeetey and Mrs. Babara Gaisie, News Editor.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the Multimedia Group, the Despite Group, the Class Media Group, Graphic Communications Group, the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and ZTV   joined Atinka Media Village   to mourn with the family of the respected journalist.

The Managing Director of Atinka Media Village, operators of Atinka TV, Atinka FM 104.7, Atinkaonline.com, Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi and Ahotor FM in Takoradi, Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, said the late Francis Sasu was a great person who needed to be celebrated.

“Francis Sasu (FS), as he was affectionately called was a Christian, so it's befitting that his one-week should reflect who he was, a gentle, kind, and loving person; devoted to his family, church and work,” he said.

According to him, the late news editor was a great professional who  nurtured many prominent journalists  in the country.

“Our paths are varied and we look at life in different ways. But there is one thing we all have in common, at one point or another, and to some degree or other, our lives have been touched by the life of FS. Indeed many prominent journalists have passed through hands FS in his almost four decades of journalism practice,” he said.

Mr. Dwumfuor urged the family of Mr. Sasu to be comforted by the fact that he was a good Christian and that he was in the good books of the Lord.

“This morning, we pay our respects to a media giant, who has fallen before men but reigns supreme in the army of God. This is aptly captured by the Psalmist in Psalm 116: 15 which says, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”, he said.
