Hundreds of beautiful and intelligent African women on Thursday gathered at the headquarters of Ecobank near the National Theater in Accra for an insightful and memorable session of women empowerment.
This beautiful event showed how blessed the African continent is. This part of the world is endowed with great women who are doing amazingly well here on the continent and other parts of the world.
The Visionary African Women Summit brought together great personalities from many countries — Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Rwanda etc to share golden nuggets with young females across the world seeking to be great in all their endeavors.
Visionary African Women Summit, organized by the Lilian Ike Foundation, is an annual gathering of a thriving community of African women from all spheres of human endeavour in order to inspire, empower, and equip them to be nation-builders.
The organization, which was founded in 2019 and has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, aims to promote peace and sustainable development in Africa in addition to serving as a platform for educating, empowering, and advocating for women to realize their potential for a better society devoid of sentiments.
Speaking on the Theme; building women against all odds, breaking barriers, building bridges. There were lots of very captivating panel discussions to throw lights on pertinent issues undermining the betterment of women in Africa.
These learned personalities and founders of empowerment foundations also spoke on why it is extremely important to build women in African, it’s impact on the continent and the world at large.
There was a conversation on women taking advantage of the rapid growth of technology to help them also become more competent competitive job market. In this century, almost everything is digitalized making people with little or no knowledge about it struggle so it is extremely important to encourage women to also take it seriously to get more opportunities.
Mental health — one thing causing lots of damages yet many Africans do not take it seriously was another captivating topic discussed at the event. Women are advised to pay more attention to their mental health, seek help when they have to — they shouldn’t feel shy to seek for help because it destroying many people.
Research has it that, sexual abuse and violence against women keeps increasing on this continent which is very worrying, this is partly attributed to the African culture — it is believed that, many African believes and practices encourages men to treat this way. Speakers at the event discussed how this problem can be solved.
Day one was very interesting, tomorrow is slated for another mind blowing session. Some personalities will be honored for their outstanding service to humanity.
