Luis Suarez reveals why Barcelona want to replace him

The Uruguayan is nothing if not honest. Despite scoring a hat-trick in El Classico he did not hold back when asked about his future.

“That Barcelona are looking for a nine… it’s normal. I’m already 31 years old,” he told Uruguayan radio station Sport890.

So who could Barcelona get to replace him?

There have been extensive reports linking old boy Neymar Jr with a return to the Nou Camp. But he may have burnt his bridges with his acrimonious move to Paris Saint-Germain.

He believes that VAR is taking something vital away from strikers – the pure joy of scoring a goal.

“You lose a spark,” he said in the same interview.

"At even the slightest doubt defenders raise their hands and the forward doesn’t celebrate because of possible doubts. Later if they give you the goal as valid, you don’t do it anymore.

"The adrenaline of celebrating a goal is divine, and VAR takes those little things away.”

He added: “We have to get used to not arguing so much with the refs, not arguing against them, because that’s why we have VAR. Without discussion.”
