Mahama and NDC will win 2024 polls – Fitch Solutions

Fitch Solutions, an international research and analytics agency, predicts that John Mahama and the NDC will win the 2024 general elections in December.

According to the London-based consultancy firm,  54% of those polled believe the former president would win the forthcoming presidential election.

In its mid-year review for Sub-Saharan Africa, Fitch Solutions indicated that the current situation of the economy will have a big impact on voters’ choices on December 7.

Mike Kruiniger, Associate Director of Country Risk at Fitch Solutions, stated, “We feel that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a better chance of winning the 2019 general elections than the government New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Recent polls consistently place the NDC ahead with the most recent survey showing 54% of respondents favouring the NDC,” he stated.

He continued by saying that voters’ decisions about whom to support will be heavily influenced by issues like job creation and economic management, among others.

This, according to him will put the NPP at a disadvantage given the current economic hardship.

“In addition, multiple surveys have shown that economic management and job creation are going to be the most important issues during the election for voters which we believe will put the ruling NPP at a disadvantage given the economic challenges that the country has faced over the last couple of years.”
