Mahama not a match in 2020 elections – NPP

Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, says the party is not perturbed about the re-election of former President John Dramani Mahama as flagbearer for the NDC come 2020.

According to Nana Obiri Boahen, the former President will not be a match for the NPP come 2020.

The NDC on Saturday went to the polls to elect a flagbearer to contest the 2020 general elections of the ticket of the party.

Former President, John Dramani Mahama secured 213,443 votes representing 95.24% in the NDC 's presidential primary held on Saturday.

This win means John Dramani Mahama, will lead the NDC for the second time come 2020 general elections.

He noted that former President Mahama lost the election even at the time he was president and had  so much  resources at his disposal.

“If you have been following the NDC politics keenly, it was obvious that the NDC couldn’t have presented any candidate other than the former president, John Dramani Mahama following under the circumstance. Mahama was more or less the financier of the party at a point,”he stated.

He noted that at a point the other presidential candidates complained that the selection of the national executives of the NDC was influenced by former President John Dramani Mahama.

Nana Obiri Boahen mentioned that the NPP as a party is not bothered by the election of John Dramani Mahama as flagbearer for the opposition NDC in the 2020 elections.
