Mahama pledges to complete ongoing projects; promises $10bn infrastructure investment

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has promised to launch a $10 billion, 5-year infrastructure investment plan to enhance critical sectors across Ghana if he is elected in the December 7 elections.

The NDC flagbearer emphasized the importance of completing existing projects rather than starting new ones, a common practice with changes in government. Ghana has a history of abandoned projects, such as the $3 billion STX housing deal and the Saglemi Housing Project, which remains unresolved.

During the NDC’s manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, today 24th August 2024, Mahama outlined his plan to “implement a $10 billion, 5-year infrastructure investment in critical sectors.”

He also stated that his administration would focus on completing stalled and ongoing projects, saying, “We will conduct an inventory of all hospitals, schools, electrification, water, and road projects that have stalled or been abandoned and allocate annual budgets for their completion.”
