Medical drones operational in 3 weeks, starts in Suhum – Bawumia

Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has hinted that the famous medical drones will be operational in three weeks.

Speaking at the Town hall meeting with the economic team at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra, the vice President said, “In about 3 weeks, we will see drones delivering critical medical supplies. We will start in Suhum… Many may not appreciate how much work has been done by this government on the management of the economy.”.

The Ministry of Health has signed a Letter of Intent with the developer and operator of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, popularly known as drones, to offer a drone-enabled supply chain solution in Ghana that will ensure secure, reliable and timely deliveries of essential health care products to hospitals and other health facilities.

The service, which was designed, installed and operated by USA-based Zipline International Inc. in partnership with the Ghana Health Service, will leverage technology to improve the supply chain of critical medical supplies, reduce waste and save lives.
