Clash looms as Property owners of Santour Village in Tema Community 24 have threatened to squarely face the Tema Development Comany (TDC) taskforce if they dare come back to demolish their houses.
Members of the taskforce stormed the community Tuesday morning and demolished their fence walls and buildings at various stages of construction to their dismay. The taskforce invaded the area last Saturday to carry similar exercise.
TDC has carried similar exercise in 2014, a situation which generated public uproar, prompting the then President, John Dramani Mahama to set up a committee to investigate the issue. The president then directed the TDC to release the land to the primary owners, based on the committee's findings and recommendations.
The residents do not understand TDC's act since the area in question was released back to the indigenes from who they bought the lands and have documents partly singed by TDC covering them. "We don’t understand why government will turn round to come and demolish properties on lands that it sold to us, we cannot bear it any longer," they stressed.
Some angry residents who had wanted to counter the demolishing team said they are fed up and will no longer sit for the unwarranted act to continue, vowing to face them if they dare return to demolish their properties again.
“Government says it want to fight the land guards menace in Ghana yet it is using BNI operatives as land guards to destroy our properties, we shall also recruit land guards to protect our properties and that will result in clashes and blood bath," the irate residents vowed.
