Mid-year budget review underway

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Attah is expected to update the public on the country’s budget half way through the year today at Parliament.
He is expected to speak on Education, Energy, Agriculture, Health, the impact of COVID-19 on Ghana’s economy amongst others.
Ahead of the review, some experts have predicted a total revenue shortfall of GH₵10 billion as against a target of GHȼ67.07 billion, leading to widening of the deficit between seven per cent and 10 per cent by the end of the year.
Their projections are based on a reduction in the government’s revenue and grants by GHȼ3.59 billion as against a target of GHȼ13.95 billion for the first quarter of 2020.
Other groups, political parties and individuals are also expecting the Finance Minister to update the public on the COVID-19 Trust Fund and other grants received externally to fight the pandemic.
Despite expectations, the Finance Minister will soon hit the floor of Parliament to give Ghanaians the actual state of Ghana’s Economy.
