“Minority had planned to kill Joe Wise” during scuffle’– NPP MP

Joe wise

Member of Parliament for Abura Kwamankese constituency, Elvis Morris Donkor, has accused the Minority in Parliament of Planning to “kill” the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu.

This statement by the New Patriotic Parliament (NPP)  MP comes after Members of Parliament engaged in another physical confrontation on Monday night during a debate on the controversial E-Levy.

The incident occurred just when the MPs were about to cast their vote on the matter.

Speaker Alban Bagbin was absent from the house when the incident occurred .

A video which had gone viral on social media captured MPs punching their colleagues at will as the debate got out of hand.

The chaos occurred when the Finance Committee of Parliament had given the green light for the 1.75% E-Levy to be discussed on the floor of the House following a majority decision at the Committee level.

This is the second time a similar incident has happened in Parliament.

In an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive, Member of Parliament for Abura Kwamankese constituency, Elvis Morris Donkor, alleged that a member of the majority in Parliament had knives and blades, an indication that they had planned to kill the deputy speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu (Joe wise).

“ They wanted to kill the deputy speaker Joe Wise and this is not good for Parliament and we need to speak against it. This is the second time the Minority is acting this way. Why would you carry a knife or a blade to the House. The weapon harmed the sports minister Hon Mustapha,” Elvis Morris Donkor told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.

He has since called on the Parliament to investigate and produce the NDC MP who had knives and blades in Parliament.
