Missing excavators: Some heads must roll – Afotey Agbo

The Member of Parliament for the Kpone Katamanso Constituency, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, has asked the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo to take the bull by the horn and speak on the missing galamsey saga since his silence is raising doubts in the minds of Ghanaians.
This statement by the Member of Parliament comes after some Vehicles and mining machinery including excavators, which were seized by Operation Vanguard Task-force disappeared from the site where they were being kept.
This was revealed by the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation and Chairperson for the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng when he made an official complaint to the police for investigation.
Some owners of these vehicles have tracked the excavators and other vehicles to Navrongo, Beposo, Tarkwa Nsuaem and Tema with the help of tracking devices they had installed on the vehicles.
The President has, however, remained silent over the whole situation.
Speaking  on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, Member of Parliament for the Kpone Katamanso Constituency, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, who is not happy with the silence of the President  and asked him to speak up like any leader would in situations like this.
“We have a duty to perform, let us do things right so that one day our names will be mentioned, what is going on?   The complaints are too much. If you are a leader and you hear complaints like these, you crosscheck and if you get something out of the crosscheck you act on it and not be silent over it. Some of the things are too glaring  and if no action is taken, then it’s sad… some heads must roll, some punishments must be seen happening”, he added.
Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo recounted how he omitted his relatives from scholarship schemes in his constituency  because they had the means to  survive and that scholarship slots are reserved for  only needy but brilliant students.
