MoMAG Commends Police for Crackdown on Armed Robberies Targeting Mobile Money Agents

The Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana (MoMAG) has praised the Ghana Police Service for what it describes as swift and decisive action against armed robbers targeting mobile money agents across the country.

In a press release issued in Accra, the group expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Administration for their prompt response in apprehending suspects linked to recent attacks.

Relief for Mobile Money Operators

MoMAG noted that the police intervention has brought relief and renewed confidence to thousands of mobile money agents, who play a vital role in promoting financial inclusion and supporting economic activity nationwide.

The group highlighted that the arrests demonstrate the Police Service’s commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting businesses, especially at a time when security concerns among mobile money operators had been rising.

Call for Sustained Security Measures

While commending the progress made, MoMAG urged the police to maintain the momentum and continue implementing strong security measures to deter further criminal activity.

It also encouraged its members to remain vigilant, adhere to safety protocols, and collaborate closely with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.

Confidence in Continued Protection

The Association expressed optimism that ongoing efforts will provide lasting protection for mobile money agents, enabling them to operate without fear while delivering essential financial services to the public.

The statement was jointly signed by Kingsley Amoako-Atta, Edward Ofori Agyemang, and Stephen Quarcoo Gorman on behalf of the group’s leadership.
