Actress and movie director, Juliet Yaa Asantewa Asante, is the new Board Chairperson of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI).
Madam Asante was sworn in by the Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh at a short ceremony in Accra Wednesday.
The 'SilveRain' director thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing her to chair the NAFTI board.
In a statement, Juliet Asante said she will ensure Nafti plays the important role of providing the important skill sets needed to ensure adequate growth of the media sector.
“But most importantly, we need to continue to explore innovative ways of churning out leaders who can shape not only the vision and narrative of Ghana, but of Africa.
From where I stand, every graduate of Nafti is a leader because you hold a powerful tool in your hand to shape minds and the destiny of our people and I am committed to working together with the board to ensure that graduates from Nafti not only understand the power they have, but that they acquire the needed skill sets to carry that out. Graduates from Nafti also need to understand the responsibility they hold to the country and to Africa as a whole
We pray for God’s guidance in this very important mission. The world is ready for us and we have work to do,” she said
