Multimedia Group sues Ken Agyapong over defamation

The Multimedia Group has sued the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, Mr Kennedy Agyapong over defamatory comments made against the Group.

According to the Group, in the month of July 2021, Kennedy Agyapong, made and repeated false and defamatory statements on his media platforms spurning caution issued by lawyers of the Group on 13th July 2021.

“Joy FM, The Multimedia Group and the Chief Executive Officer, Kwasi Twum have been compelled and have taken a firm decision to afford the MP, his media organization and three (3) of his employees, the opportunity to prove the allegations in court,” the Group stated.

The Group in a statement said, “Two (2) other online publications that also circulated the outright falsehoods without care or any attempt to verify the allegations against the three (3) Plaintiffs by re-publication on 11th and 16th July 2021, have been joined as 6th and 7 Defendants.”

It explained that, “The broadcasts and publications falsely sought to portray the Plaintiffs as unethical, unprofessional and criminal. The broadcasts and publications as well as associated defamatory commentary have been carefully and meticulously gathered and formally transcribed and translated. Our lawyers are under firm instructions to sue to clear our names.”

“We assure all concerned; our cherished audiences, stakeholders, clients, as well as family, friends, alumni of The Multimedia Group and associates of the CEO who have and continue to reach out to us, that our lawyers will today file the suit. We appreciate your patience and unrelenting support in this pursuit to vindicate our rights, reputations and business,” it added.

Man butchers wife; suicide attempt fails

A man believed to be 32 years of age, Papa Kwesi has butchered his wife who is also in her 30’s, Abena at Assin Gyinawoboodie in the Assin South District of the Central Region.

After committing the heinous crime, Paa Kwesi attempted to commit suicide by cutting his neck but the timely intervention of some residents prevented the man’s suicide attempt.

Paa Kwesi and his late wife were farmers who were contracted to work on a farm in the area.

Speaking with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on the AM Drive, a local reporter , Aduanaba Kofi Essien said those who were at the scene after the incident could not tell what transpired between the couple before the unfortunate drama .

According to him, they received a call that someone had butchered his wife and they called the Police and rushed to the scene.

Upon reaching the place, a woman who lives closer to the couple said she was at home when two children of the victim rushed to her in tears with blood on their hands.
