My “Buy Ghana First” policy will help local manufacturers-Bawumia

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that his “Buy Ghana First” policy which would be introduced in 2025 when voted as President will help local manufacturers.

Addressing chiefs, Imams and the Clergy at Juapong in the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Dr. Bawumia explained that the Buy Ghana First policy is aimed at garnering support and patronage for local industries and the private sector.

He said, “I hear we are currently buying school uniforms from China. That will not happen under the Buy Ghana First policy”.
Sharing an experience from his working visit to the Volta Star Textiles Factory, where he noticed that the factory was faced with low demands.

“When I visited the Volta Star Textile Factory Limited in Juapong months ago, before my manifesto came up. When I went there, it was a company that was in trouble because the demand for the products was not there.

“If it is school uniforms, we are importing these textiles from other countries and that becomes a problem for job creation. So I have a policy to support all Ghanaian manufacturers and that policy is the ‘Buy Ghana First’ Policy. For all that the government buys, and the government buys a lot, it means that the government must buy Ghana first.
