NDC supporters harass media men at headquarters

Media personnel who went to the headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday were verbally harassed by supporters of the party.

Some supporters called journalist names and hooted at them for helping “the New Patriotic Party (NPP) rig the election”.

At the time the reporters got to the office, some well-built men had to meet them (reporters) outside and escort them to the main conference room for the press conference.

Communications Director for NDC, Sammy Gyamfi urged the supporters to stop attacking the media.

He acknowledged the fact that the media has been helpful to the NDC before, during and after the election and so even if the supporters feel the media did not do things in an expected manner, it is a human institution and therefore can err.

He also made the supporters aware that the media personnel present at the conference were not responsible for the outcome of the results put out there by their TV or radio stations and therefore do not deserved to be harassed by anybody.

Sammy Gyamfi also apologised to the media personnel who were harassed by the NDC supporters, expressing the NDC’s appreciation to the media for its support over the years.

Despite his caution to the irate supporters of the NDC, they still verbally attacked the media after the close of the conference.
