NDC supporters rally behind Edward Kraku; Mounts pressure on Ashai Odamtten to step down

Some supporters of the Opposition National Democratic Congress in the Tema East Constituency, have begun rallying for the party to settle on the candidature of one Edward Kraku, a defeated aspirant in the party’s last parliamentary primaries, as pressure mounts on the party’s candidate for the 2020 elections, Ashai Odamtten to step down.
The call by the party supporters, follows a similar call made by an executive member of the party, Stephen Ashitey Adjei popularly known as Mosahke, urging the National Executive of the Party to take a firm decision on the Tema East Candidate, who is currently being investigated by the Economic Organized Crime Office EOCO and the state Attorney, for his alleged role in the diversion of some 5.6 million ghana cedis, while serving in office as the Mayor of Tema.
Some Constituency executives of the NDC in Tema East, are concerned the case which is currently before the Attorney general’s office, could be used as a last minute bait by the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP, in compelling Mr Ashai Odamtten to step down.
However party supporters in the Tema East Constituency, are not in anyway ready for such a last minute blow, calling on the Party hieraqy to as a matter of urgency, settle on the candidature of Mr Edward Kraku, who came second to the current PC in the last primaries.
James Adjetey, a polling station executive said Mr Edward Kraku stands tall amongst all possible candidate’s who could serve as alternative should, Ashai Odmatten be made to step down.
“He’s already a marketed candidate, of which we will need little resources in marketing him. His performance in the last primaries, also says it all”, Mr Adjetey further asserted.
Madam Stella Adjei, a resident of Tema Newtown, who also doubles as a polling station executive of the NDC in the constituency, was in full support for the party to as a matter of urgency replace the candidature of Mr Ashai Odmatten with that of Mr Edward Kraku.
Meanwhile information available to ATINKANEWS, indicates that, some party members will in the coming days hold series of demonstration against the Party hieraqy, in a bid to compel them to come out with their final verdict on the matter.
