Nigerian actor in Ghana to fight streetism

Veteran Nigerian Actor, Mr Livinus Nnochiri is in Ghana to support a project that seeks to curb streetism.

As an Ambassador to the Chelsea Nwodo Foundation, he joins a Ghanaian Team, Regal Connect Foundation to provide medical care, fete street children and as well register about 200 persons on the National Health Insurance scheme for free.

The issue of streetism in Ghana has been visited by previous Governments and even the current Government.

Despite the interventions, especially by the Gender Ministry, the country continues to be confronted by the menace.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Abena Dufie, Mr Livinus Nnochiri explained that he was playing his Ambassadorial role in curbing streetism.

According to him, his prescence in Ghana will enable people know the organisation was not fake, saying when they call people to come around and they see his face, they will know the organisation means business and will show up because they love and trust him.

When asked if he and the organisation have ended streetism in Nigeria before coming to solve that of Ghana, he replied that they have done a lot of such interventions in Nigeria, starting from the Delta state.

According to Mr Livinus Nnochiri, the organisation provided support for persons who were in need, adding that they had already delivered some equipment including sewing machines, grinding machines to people to start their businesses.

“We have been moving, we started from Delta and this is the international movement we have made and we are planning further works,” he said.

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Regal Connect Foundation, James Acquah also said since 2020, the Connect Foundation has been supporting the needy, especially at Teshie and its environs and is now collaborating with the

Chelsea Nwodo Foundation to support people who need it.

He said on Saturday July 2023, they will do the registration of NHIS Card at Osu, Millennium Park.

He said it was opened to the public, adding that all can go there for the registration.

Although in Accra alone, he intends to extend the Foundation and its services to other Regions in the country.

He encouraged those who want to support the foundation with money or clothes or any items to contact them to offer their support.
