Owusu Bempah calls out comfortable CEOs who aren’t defending gov’t

The Public Relations Officer for Ghana Gas and Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah, has asked CEO’s who believe it is not their job to defend the government to have a rethink.

This statement by the politician comes after the Minority in Parliament fronted a protest on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. The protest was to compel the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison and his two deputies to resign.

The protest also sought to challenge Central Bank’s alleged illegal printing of about GH¢ 80 billion between 2021 and 2022 which contributed to an inflation rate of 54.1% in December 2022.

They Minority claims the BoG has mismanaged the finances of the country, resulting in hyper-inflation and pushing thousands into poverty.

In a Facebook post, Ernest Owusu-Bempah revealed that some Akufo-Addo-appointed CEOs have become overly comfortable in their positions and care very little about the public image of the government.

He added that it will not come as a surprise to him when such persons are kicked out.

“There are some Akufo-Addo appointed CEOs who are just comfortable in their positions and care very little about the public image of the government that made it possible for them to have a job.

Well, if you’re a CEO and think it is not your job to defend the government when it comes under attack, think again.

In fact, it is the job and responsibility of every appointee to look after the goose that lays the golden egg, and I’m sure President Akufo-Addo is closely monitoring and watching all CEOs of parastatal institutions who simply don’t want to dirty their hands for the good of the government that they’re part of.

The tragedy of Julius Caesar, otherwise referred to as the “Ides of March” was foretold in the Shakespearean era and despite the soothsayer’s two attempts to warn Caeser, he didn’t pay attention to the warnings.

I wouldn’t be surprised if heads start rolling soon among the CEOs.

Good day, my people
