Members of Parliament on Thursday voted to reprimand the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong who was found in contempt of Parliament.
This was after he apologised in the House for some contemptuous comments he made against the House.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong was found guilty of contempt for describing Parliament as useless and cheap.
He, however, insisted that he never used such words attributed to him to describe Parliament.
The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye then led the House via voice vote to consider the options recommended in the Privileges Committee report.
Parliament on Thursday suspended sitting temporarily over a deadlock over which sanctions to hand out to Kennedy Agyapong.
The committee’s report recommended a reprimand or suspension of Kennedy Agyapong for the rest of the session of Parliament.
The deadlock was because the Majority MPs’ were divided over whether the report of the committee should be approved before they decide on a sanction for their colleague.
When they resumed sitting, Kennedy Agyapong was given the opportunity to apologise and was subsequently rebuked by the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye.
Meanwhile, Asawase MP, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka who dragged Mr. Agyapong before the Privileges Committee says he is disappointed with the decision of the House.
Alhaji Muntaka who is also the Minority Chief Whip wanted a stiffer punishment for the conduct of his colleague.
