Peace restored at Ntonso

An Assemblyman at Ntonso Zongo Electoral Area, Mr Abdul Latif Musah, says peace has been restored at Ntonso in the Ashanti Region after a clash between two youth groups.

A curfew was imposed on Ntonso in the Ashanti Region following clashes between some two youth groups.

The clashes were triggered by the stabbing of a young man from an opposing youth group.

Following the communal clash, the Kwabre East Municipal Security Council in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday imposed a curfew on Ntonso for calm to prevail.

Some youths went on rampage over the weekend as they attacked anyone on sight and also vandalized properties.

Schools were forced to close in the early hours of Monday because of the tension.

Police officers were also deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
It was also reported that one person has been arrested so far.

Speaking with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, Mr Abdul Latif Musah debunked rumours that schools had been closed since, saying that school children are now in school while normal activities going on.

He said the security is also patrolling the area to ensure that peace is maintained.

“The clashes usually happens on Sundays, because people go out a lot and have fun at drinking bars where most of the issues start,” he alleged.

Due to this, the Assemblyman said all the three drinking bars in the area have been closed.

He suggested that the drinking bars are stopped from operating on Sundays when they resume work, adding that the owners must provide maximum security before operating the bars.
