Photos: Tobinco Group Holds Thanksgiving Service

The Tobinco Group of Companies yesterday held a non-denominational thanksgiving service in Accra to thank God for seeing them through the year.

The service was also to appreciate God for his goodness upon the people and the Group despite the pandemic and to also appreciate the hardworking staff members.


Present at the event was the Executive Chairman of the Tobbinco Group of Companies, Elder Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin I, and his wife, Mrs Araba Sika Tobbin, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Rev Joyce Aryee, Dr Lawrence Tetteh, Group Chaplain, Pastor Emmanuel Yirebi, Apostle A.N.Y. Kumi Larbi, Apostle A.D.P. James Tetteh, Subsidiary Heads and staff from all the companies under the Tobinco Group of Companies.


Gospel musician, Joe Mettle, also graced the occasion with good music. A prayer was said for the nation and the group at the thanksgiving service.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin I underscored the need to thank God for how far he has brought the group and his staff members.


He said despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lord has blessed the group immensely in diverse ways, therefore, the need to thank God.


“Although the group had some sad moments, there were equally some good times and therefore, we need to thank God,” he expressed.


Nana Amo Tobbin I, who also appreciated his workers and all the work done by his staff members, said the group had been able to achieve great success despite the pandemic.


He admitted that 2020 is one of the years the companies have seen a lot of profit margins and God’s blessings.


Counting the blessings of the group, he said the Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre and the Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited have been able to supply medicines to Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast with the exception of Nigeria because of a few challenges on the road.


He expressed hope to enter into the Nigerian market next year without constraints.


Nana Amo Tobbin also noted that the Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited in collaboration with the Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre was the first to produce Hydroxychloroquine in Ghana and even West Africa to help manage the coronavirus disease.


He said the first production was presented to the Ministry of Health in July 2020 to help manage Ghana’s Covid cases.


He also made it known that as part of its corporate social responsibilities, the group presented over 1,000 courses of Hydroxychloroquine and over 18,000 boxes of Foligrow to some group of people and companies to support the fight against Covid-19.


“We also went to house to house to present food items during the Covid,” he said.


He disclosed: “In spite of the challenges of covid, this year presented an opportunity to extend our production base to producing Omal hand sanitizers and other detergents like soaps and rubbing alcohol. We opened a plant and we are doing so well, this has created jobs for over 200 people.”


He added that, “Our plant has doubled, production has doubled, at the Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited, their sales and businesses have tripled.”

He said the TPL has been able to purchase a lot of cars for its workers including 10 brand new 4X4, Toyota Land cruisers.

Nana Amo Tobbin also noted with joy that Atinka Media Village had five awards at the GJA Awards, including best TV programme of the year, Di Asa, Female Journalist of the year and Special Award for COVID-19 coverage.


The Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited, he said, also received recognition for being a hero in the fight against COVID-19.


He was hopeful that more awards would be won in the coming years.
For his part, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, admonished the people to be thankful to God for keeping them safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.


He noted that although some people were more careful, others were not that careful but God has seen all through.


He also noted that when the world was hit with the Covid, “it affected a lot of nations, economies and lives but God has been good to us as a people and the country as a whole, adding therefore, we the need to thank God.”


“We think that sleeping and waking up is normal, but the day you sleep and don’t wake up your family will weep, All that God is expecting from you is to thank Him,” he said.


The Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries, Rev Dr Joyce Aryee, said despite the pandemic, the group was excelling not because of human wisdom but because of the Lord being with the group.


She congratulated the group and prayed that it keeps excelling going forward.
Staff members from each company were awarded for their hard work.


The event was also climaxed with a dinner.
