Police debunk IGP removal reports

Ghana Police

The Ghana Police Service has moved to dispel rumours circulating in the media that Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has been asked to proceed on leave.

In a statement released on Sunday, the police described the reports as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard them.

The statement assured that Dr. Dampare remains committed to his duties as IGP, as mandated by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.

The police urged the public to treat the rumours with contempt and rely on official channels for accurate information.

According to the statement, this move was aimed at maintaining public trust and confidence in the police service.

The Ghana Police Service used the medium to warn that spreading false information can cause harm to individuals and institutions, and, therefore, encouraged the public to verify information through official channels before sharing.
