Two suspected armed robbers have been killed and four others busted for their alleged involvement in some robbery and murder cases along the Kintampo Buipe Tamale Highway.
The robbers, Hamidu Umaru and Haadu were killed after some gun exchanges with the Police Intelligence and Operational teams.
The detained suspects are Saaju Bukari, Bertor Saabi, Ali Amadu and Isaad Sedu.
According to the Police in a statement, the Intelligence-led operations by the Special Anti Robbery Task Force led to the retrieval of 2 locally manufactured pistols and live cartridges, machetes, bayonets, pepper spray cans and stun guns.
Some suspected stolen items were retrieved and they include mobile phones and motorbikes.
The police stated that Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were behind many robberies including the killing of an International Journalist some days ago.
Meanwhile, it said that the Police Administration has Instituted some rigorous measures to effectively combat serious crimes that have plagued the area over the past few years, adding that similar intelligence-led operations have been employed in other regions.
“The general public is advised to collaborate with the Police by providing credible Information on suspected criminals for swift and immediate action. Policing is a shared responsibility. Therefore, we entreat everyone to get involved for a safer and peaceful society,” the police added.

17 Persons have been arrested by the Anti-Armed Robbery Taskforce for possessing unregistered weapons at Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region.
They were arrested through an operation carried out by the Anti-Armed Robbery Taskforce at Donkorkrom.
The 17 persons who were arrested with assistance from the Donkorkrom Police had weapons including pistols, machetes, cartridges, locally manufactured pistols, knives and barrel guns.
The Eastern Regional Police PRO, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who spoke to the media said the 17 persons are currently in police custody and will be arraigned before court after investigations are concluded.
