PTA donates 150 metal chairs to Chiana SHS

The Parent  Teacher Association (PTA) of the Chiana Senior High School in the Kasena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, has presented 150 metal chairs to the school.

Presenting the items to the school, the  PTA Chairman Mr. Aduabu Atelayugu said the enrollment at the school had increased but the lack of adequate furniture was greatly affecting teaching and learning hence the support for the school.

Mr. Atelayugu pledged that the PTA would continue to assist the school by creating the right environment to enhance teaching and learning.

He noted that the government alone can not provide everything for the school hence the need for the PTA to come in with the  little support to enhance teaching and learning at the school.

He said the parents of the school realized the need to complement the government’s effort in educational delivery and decided to raise funds to procure 150  desks to help reduce the school’s furniture deficit.

The headmistress of the Chiana Senior high school, Madam Ivy Betur Naaso who received the chairs on behalf of the school, commended the  PTA executives for the donation adding that the donation came at the right time.

Mrs Naaso noted that the government had done its part but it wasn’t enough to serve the total population of the school. She said the school currently had 1,570 students.

The headmistress indicated that the PTA was not financially strong and appealed to corporate institutions and individuals to come to the aid of the school.

She advised the students to work diligently to justify the investment made in them by the government and their parents.

Some of the students who were there to witness the presentation express their heartfelt gratitude to the PTA executives for coming to their aid at the right time and promised to make their parents proud.
