PWD appeals for support to establish “makeup” business

Salifu Selma is one of the PWDs who benefited from the ‘Kayayei’ empowerment programme at Madina Social Welfare, a training initiated by the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to support kayayee’s and bring them out of poverty.

Despite receiving training in makeup artistry, she still goes to the street to beg because she has not been able to raise money to establish herself while fending for her daily needs.

In an interview with Atinka TV’s reporter, Nana Afia Oforiwaa, Salifu Selma made it known that she joined her mother in Accra by herself.

Soon after she joined her mother, her mother passed away, forcing her to move in with her mother’s family at their home.

Despite having family members around, she receives little to no assistance from them.

According to her, she visits the mosque every Friday to beg, managing to raise GHC200.

With the GHC200, she uses it to cater to her daily needs until the following Friday when she goes out again to seek help.

As brilliant as she is, she would love to polish her skills as a makeup artist and establish her business so that she will not go back to begging.

Salifu Selma is calling on Ghanaians to support her in establishing her business as a means to escape the streets.
