Ghanaian reggae musician and health practitioner, Rasta Nurse, has hit back at critics who associate Rastafarianism with smoking weed, insisting that Rasta is a way of life rooted in righteousness.
Speaking in an interview on Atinka TV’s Entertainment Lounge, hosted by Odefour DiAsa Paapa, Rasta Nurse, who works at Gushegu in the Northern Region, emphasized that her beliefs are inspired by reggae legend Lucky Dube and biblical teachings.
“Many of the words in reggae music come from the Bible. I think Rasta is a way of life and a path of righteousness. People on TikTok attack me, accusing me of smoking weed, but I keep educating them that being a Rasta is not about that. Some Rastafarians don’t even have dreadlocks—it’s how you live that defines you,” – she explained.
She further shared how her love for reggae music developed from childhood, inspired by her father, who, despite being bald-headed, embraced Rastafarian principles and operated a small business in a blue kiosk.
Rasta Nurse made these remarks while promoting her latest collaboration with 14-year-old Ghanaian music sensation Joe D, on his new song, “Peace to the World”, produced by RichyBeatz.

Joe D, a fast-rising young talent who has performed on some of Ghana’s biggest stages, including Di Asa, says his new song carries a powerful global message.
According to him, Peace to the World is a direct appeal to the U.S. government to handle the ongoing mass deportations with care, emphasizing that all humans are one people.
“The U.S. plays a major role in global prosperity, and I want them to remember that we all have the same blood color. The song’s chorus asks, ‘Whiteman, what’s your blood color? American, what’s your blood color? We all have one blood color.’ This is a fight for peace,” Joe D explained.
On why he chose to feature Rasta Nurse, Joe D said she is already a force in the reggae space and has a strong platform to push the message further.
With a growing presence on TikTok and other digital platforms, both Joe D and Rasta Nurse are hopeful that Peace to the World will spark meaningful conversations about unity and global harmony.
