Samson Awingobit elected PNC National Chairman

Samson Asaki Awingobit emerged victorious in the internal elections of the People’s National Convention (PNC), clinching the position of National Chairman.

Asaki Awingobit secured a total of 805 votes, surpassing his closest contender, Hajia Hajara, who garnered 436 votes.

Samson Asaki Awingboit, a former party flagbearer aspirant, said in his victory speech at the UDS Guest House in Accra that the win was for the PNC family and not a personal one.

He commended his competitor for taking part in the process herself to run such a race. He emphasized the importance of unity and togetherness ahead of the 2024 general elections, calling on the newly elected national executives to put in extra work to improve the party’s fortunes at the constituency and regional levels.

The PNC eagerly anticipated the elections, held across all 16 regions, as they aimed to rejuvenate leadership in anticipation of the 2024 general elections. The competition for leadership roles was fierce, with members rallying to support their preferred candidates. In addition to the chairmanship contest, the party also held elections to determine its flagbearer for the 2024 presidential elections.

In this category, Bernard Mornah triumphed over David Apasera to become the PNC’s presidential candidate for the upcoming election cycle. The election results have ignited excitement among the party’s supporters as they prepare to present a united front for the national elections.
