Social Media Week slated for September 10

Social Media Week, the biggest global social media conference is scheduled to take place in Accra from the 10th September, 2018 to 14th September, 2018 at the Accra Mall.

The maiden edition of the event was held last year which received massive patronage by social media “gurus”, bloggers, freelancers and other notable personalities in Ghana.

In view of the event’s outstanding patronage and worth, Social Media Week Accra has earned the accreditation of the international organizers of the event (log on to socialmediaweek.org for more info) which has held similar events in New York, London, Los Angeles etc.

It is worthy to note that last year, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo tweeted on the event.

The theme for this year’s event is, “Closer”. The choice of the theme is against the backdrop of exploring the dynamics in social media and how it is affecting the lives of individuals globally.

The event will also enlighten partakers on how social media is bringing people “far and near” closer and how social media has helped in bridging the gap of “loneliness” among individuals.

Freelancers, bloggers and brands will also be educated on how they could capitalize on the vast opportunities social media create.

Some outstanding people are scheduled to speak at this year’s event, among them are: Lexis Bill of Multimedia Group, Abimbola Craig, a Nigerian Actress and lawyer who features in one of the popular TV comedy series in Nigeria, “Skinny Girl in Transit”.

Also featuring is Joshua Kissi, a U.S based freelancer who has worked with Adidas and Phiona Okumu, a BCC Africa news agent, will also speak at the event.

Partakers will be given the opportunity to interact with the speakers at the event as well as create and establish connections with other people and brands.

In partnership with the Ghana Climate and Innovation Center, there will be education on the environmental changes. In view of exposing outstanding innovators, a challenge will be launched to unearth these innovators where the winners would be awarded.
