Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Prince Dogbatse, has called on the general public to assist the Police with information as it launches investigations into the murder of the Assemblyman for Sogakope South Electoral Area.
The Assemblyman for Sogakope South Electoral Area, Markus Mawutor Adzahli was shot dead at his residence in Sogakope by unknown assailants Sunday Morning.
The assailants who are said to be about eight (8), stormed the home of Adzahli after breaking into the house with cement blocks amidst intermittent shooting.
The assailants who initially rejected money from the deceased shot him in the head, chest and stomach.
The wife of the deceased also sustained knife injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed health facility, whereas the body of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue.
Speaking in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Prince Dogbatse described the incident as unfortunate and assured families of the deceased that the Police Command will work assiduously to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are apprehended.
He called on the family of the deceased and the general public to cooperate and furnish the police with leads to make the apprehension of the culprits easy.
“I will state that the Police is going to do its best to unravel those behind this murder and so we will expect the family and the public to cooperate with the Police. We will also want to plead with whoever has information that can help the investigation to make it readily available to help the cause,” he added.
Atinka FM’s Volta Regional Correspondent, Christopher Pappoe, says the Youth of Sogakope are currently guarding the health facility where the wife of the deceased is lodging to prevent the assailants from coming back to attack her.
