Sogakope Murder: Three -day ultimatum from the youth illegal – Regional Minster

Volta Regional Minster, Archibald Letsa, has described the 3-day ultimatum by the irate youth of Sogakope as illegal and not in accordance with the laws of Ghana.
The Assemblyman for Sogakope South Electoral Area, Markus Mawutor Adzahli was shot dead at his residence in Sogakope by unknown assailants Sunday Morning.
The assailants who are said to be about eight (8), stormed the home of Adzahli after breaking into the house with cement blocks amidst intermittent shooting.
The assailants who initially rejected money from the deceased shot him in the head, chest and stomach.
The youth of Sogakope later gave the police a 3-day ultimatum to provide the killers of the assemblyman.
But Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Volta Regional Minster, Archibald Letsa noted that the youth can only cooperate with the police by providing the necessary leads to the Police to go after the criminals.
He noted that the Police  will do its best to unravel those behind this murder and that can only be possible with cooperation and not chaos.
“That is illegal! It is not according to the laws of our country that a crime is committed and somebody gives an ultimatum so we explained to them yesterday that they cannot give government ultimatum, they should cooperate with us, provide us with information and we shall go after the criminals. But we are doing our best to apprehend the criminals, we can’t give any time limit and we can’t promise that we can do it within three days,” he added.
He also called on the family and the public to cooperate with the Police and that whoever has information that can help the investigation to make it readily available to help the cause.
Meanwhile, the Sogakope Assembly has placed a GHS10,000 bounty on head of the assailants who murdered the assembly member.
Christopher Pappoe, Atinka News’ Volta Regional Correspondent who is based in Sogakope, also reported that on the AM Drive with Ekourba Gyasi that although calm has been restored in the area, the irate youth has threatened to strike again when the 3-day ultimatum elapses.
