Mr. Frank Teddy Boakye, a travel agent has said, certain Ghanaians, including women, continue to visit Gulf States in violation of the travel prohibition imposed on Ghanaians to these regions.
In 2017, the government placed a ban on and suspended the issuance of lincences of recruitment agencies that send people to these Gulf States.
This was after numerous reports of physical abuse of domestic staff, especially women.
The countries included Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
With time, the Coalition of Licensed Labour Migration Agencies and other migration experts appealed to the Ministry to suspend the moratorium.
However, in a latest development, Ignatius Baffour Awuah said the ban on recruitment of domestic staff from Ghana to the Gulf States will not be lifted until the right structures are in place.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwah, Mr Frank Teddy Boakye alleged that since the ban, those with licenses have not sent anyone to those countries.
However, he alleged that those without licenses are rather sending people, including women, to these countries to do domestic work.
Mr Frank Teddy Boakye questioned if the ban worked for some people and did not favour others?
He also questioned if the government indeed was doing its work well to ensure that no one was travelling to those countries to seek greener pastures.
Meanwhile, He admitted that they made a few mistakes in the past but have corrected them.
He therefore asked the minister to lift the ban and work with them to address the challenges, moving forward.
