Tema Lions Club, JEM Intercontinental Services Ghana disinfect Tema General Hospital

The Tema General Hospital has been fumigated after the facility recorded four cases of COVID-19.

The fumigation and disinfection exercise carried out by the Tema Chapter of the International Lions Club and that of JEM Intercontinental Services Ghana, a pest control company, saw several wards of the Tema General Hospital being fumigated.

President of the Tema Chapter of the International Lions Club, Kofi Dzamboe, said the exercise forms part of the club’s annual programme dubbed “Protecting the Environment,” which seeks to raise awareness on issues affecting the environment, adding that  they couldn’t choose a better time to carry out such an initiative than this time.
The whole exercise was done at a cost of GHC15,000
The OPD, Female Ward, Children’s Ward, Administration, Surgical and the Eye Clinic which was constructed by the Lions Club, were all disinfected.
Chemicals used for the exercise were calcium hypoclorite  and isopropanol.

Medical Director of the Tema General Hospital, Dr Richard Anthony who confirmed that the facility was treating some COVID-19 cases described the exercise as timely and a sigh of relief.

On the impact of the fumigation and disinfection exercise, CEO of GEM Intercontinental limited, John Tsimeseh, said chemicals used will limit the spread of any virus.
