Tema Mayor reignites youth interest  in Kplejoo Festival with Kple Lala Kanemɔ event

This year’s Kplejoo, which is celebrated by the good people of Tema has been described by indigenes and merrymakers as one of the most well-organized and coordinated events in the history of the festival.

One of the highlights of this year’s annual festival was the  Kplejoo lala kanemɔ (kplejoo song listening session) which has been shelved for several years now. This year’s “Kple lala kanemɔ” event, which was organized by the Mayor of Tema, Yohane Armah Ashitey gave the platform for all the Kplejoo groups to showcase their talents by singing songs composed by themselves to the teeming crowd who had converged at the Kple durbar grounds to have a first ear listening of the songs before the main event.

Groups such as  Jamaica, Aye Sɛkɛ, Aunty Manaa, Kwesi Arthur, Planet, and Lucky 7 amongst others all gave a rendition of their well-composed Kple songs which discussed social issues, development, and individual commendation to the delight of the charged crowd.

Mayor of Tema, Yohane Amarh Ashitey who donated several packs of non-alcoholic beverages and cash to the over 15 Kple teams, commended the teams for turning out in their numbers to make the event a historical one.

He also promised to address issues of unemployment and the lack of social amenities which were raised in some of the Kple songs by the Kple groups.

Some youths who spoke to Atinka News commended the Tema Mayor and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly for rekindling the interest and euphoria of the Kplejoo festival.

Naa Shika Stargurl, Manetse Okoe Oninku, and Owula Sorkorboi Behoko all indigenes of Tema and members of this year’s Tema Kplejoo Organizing team,  commended the Tema Mayor and the Tema Traditional Council for their unique contribution to making this year’s Kplejoo Festival very attractive to both the youths and the elderly. They called for more such collaborative efforts to make the Tema Kplejoo an international Festival.
