The man Alban Bagbin

On January 7th, Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin was sworn in as the Speaker of Parliament for the 8th parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana.

This was after the 7th parliament was dissolved 12 a.m. that dawn.

Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin is a Ghanaian who was born on 24 September 1957.

He hails from Sombo in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

He is a Lawyer by profession and a politician who is associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He was the Minister for Health in the Ghana government from January 2012 until February 2013 when Hanny-Sherry Ayittey took over the position.

Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin had his tertiary education at the University of Ghana, Legon BA (Law and English) in 1980; BL (GSL) 1982.

He continued his education for Executive Masters at GIMPA, in 2007.

He was the Majority Leader/ MP in January, 1993.

He is married to Alice Adjua Yornas Bagbin, who is the Programme Officer of the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) office in Ghana with two children.

He is a Christian (Catholic).
