There was no fairness in 2023/2024 Division 2 League– Isaac Kontoh

Isaac Kwasi Kontoh, the chairman of Kwaebibirem United, expressed his discontent with the Ghana Division 2 league’s 2023/2024 season.

He stated this during a one-on-one interview with Atinka FM

Kwaebibirem United is remembered as one of the best teams in Ghana football history, having competed in the Ghana Premier League.

It was owned or managed by Oheneba Charles, who made history with the squad by defeating Kotoko back -to- back in the Ghana Premier League.

The team could not maintain the peak of their performance as they drop down to division 1.

In keeping with their ups and downs, 6 points were deducted, dropping the squad deeper into the Division 2 league.

Kwasi Kontoh expressed his dissatisfaction with the current season (2023/2024), citing pitch quality, officiating, hooliganism, and sporting facilities.

Mr. Kontoh stated, “I believed that if the season had been played fairly, I would have qualified for Division One.” Several times, he felt his squad was not treated fairly in some matches.

He intimated that pitches with no inner border should not be recognized by the Regional Football Association because he believes they contribute to the spread of hooliganism. ‘Every team should have an inner perimeter to prevent hooliganism,’ he stressed.

‘I sometimes get disappointed to involve myself in football but the love for it keeps on growing’ he said. Mr Kontoh said he was working hard  to move the team to Division 1 and graduate to the Premier League
