TVET Key To Reducing Poverty And Unemployment — Mawusi Nudekor

TVET

Former Director-General of Ghana TVET Services, Mawusi Nudekor, has called for greater investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), describing it as the key to reducing poverty and unemployment in Ghana.

According to him, the perception that technical schools are for unintelligent students is outdated, as more students are now enrolling in TVET programmes across the country.

Mr. Nudekor said TVET graduates are creating jobs and in some cases employing university graduates because of their practical skills. He stressed that Ghana must stop depending heavily on imported sub-standard goods, arguing that such practices create jobs for foreign countries instead of Ghanaians.

He also urged government and the private sector to invest more in TVET institutions to improve training and support innovation. He noted that products made by TVET students are already generating revenue for many schools.

Mr. Nudekor encouraged parents to enroll their children in TVET schools or weekend technical training programmes, insisting that technical education is not only for poor children but for every child seeking a better future.
