Two Auxiliary Bishops, Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis have been ordained into the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra.
The Episcopal Ordination of the Two Bishops was held in Accra at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka on Wednesday, 19th April, 2023.
The two are expected to support Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie with the Pastoral care of the Archdioceses of Accra.
At the Rites of Ordination which was attended by Catholic Bishops, Members and invited Guests, an official document or proclamation (Papal bull) issued by His Holiness, Pope Francis was read by Rev. Father Michael Kodjo Mensah, University of Ghana and Rev. Father. Raymond Osei Tutu in Latin and English to seal their ordination.
The Principal Consecrator, His Excellency, Most Rev. Henryk M. Jagodzinski, Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana led the ordination of Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis.

Together with two Principal CO-Consecrators, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra and Most. Rev. Matthew Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani and President of GCBC, Most Rev. Henryk M. Jagodzinski anointed and prayed for the Ordained Bishops.
He also handed the Book of the Gospels to Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, placed a ring on their right finger to seal their fidelity to the services.
As part of the Rites of the Episcopal Ordination, a staff was also presented to the two as they take a new turn as shepherds to their flock.
While the people gave their consent on the ordination of the two, Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis also made their promise to discharge their duties until death, preach the Gospel of Christ with Constancy and fidelity amongst others.
After these, they were also presented with gifts from the church and Most Rev. Henryk M. Jagodzinski.
All the Catholic Bishops present also congratulated and prayed for the two for their new feat.

Speaking at the Service, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie noted that normally, one Person is chosen as an Auxiliary Bishop but currently, a new trend is emerging, therefore the ordination of two.
According to him, the deaneries in the Archdiocese of Accra have been divided into two, West and East and so with immediate effect, Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and Most Rev. John Kobina Louis would be responsible for the two.
He urged all to support them to carry out their duties as they should.


Meanwhile, delivering the Homily, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, Most. Rev. Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye urged the two to execute their mandate with the truth and always defend the truth.
He encouraged them to stand by the truth and be a subordinate to Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie as expected of them.
He urged them to also ensure to open their ears widely but keep their mouths shut.
