Two Mahama projects abandoned at Kpone Kantamanso

A District Court being put up for the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly has been abandoned in the bush since the change of government. This has resulted in a rift between the Chief of Gbetsile, Nii Teye Kojo l and the MCE for Kpone-Katamanso, Solomon Appiah.

Atinkaonline has further gathered that District Assemblies Common Fund Clinic project almost at roof level, has also been truncated and left in Gbetsile.

Both projects commenced by the Mahama administration have been stalled since last year as the Municipality is currently without a court, and continues to depend on courts in Tema.

The MCE, Solomon Appiah, speaking in an exclusive interview with atinkaonline.com explained that the DDF funded court project which was not a storey building was changed to a storey building on the instruction of the Chief without the then administration reviewing the initial contract to suit the latter intention.

As a result, the existing budget allocation could not complete the new plan which came with a higher budget, hence, stalling the project.

Mr. Appiah mentioned that even though the previous administration erred by not abrogating the earlier contract and re-rewarding it to make enough funds available for the project, the intention was laudable.

He said his outfit has written to the authorities to make the said court a High Court, instead of the planned District Court.

The Kpone-Katamanso MCE also stated that he would soon be called to the Regional Coordinating Council to defend his request, hoping that the additional funds of about GHC350,000 would be released for the completion of the project.

Reacting to the issue, the Chief of Gbetsile, Nii Teye Kojo I said government and the Gbetsile Stool had agreed on a storey building and that the stool has no administrative say on the project.

Nii Teye Kojo l, who also said no money has been paid for the land in question, added that, if the government will sit aloof for such a project to waste away, then the  Gbetsile Stool will be compelled to sell two out of the four plots of land to execute the project.
