Five miners met their untimely death on Thursday, 1st October 2020 after a mining pit collapsed on them.
The tragedy occurred at Ayanfuri Gyaman, a community in the Upper Denkyira West District in the Central Region.
Speaking to DSP Jones Edummud Afutu, the Dunkwa District Police Commander, he confirmed the story to the media, saying that the incident happened around 4:30pm on that day when they were working in the illigal mining pit.
The case has since been reported to dunkwa district police command, who have launched a full_scale investigation into the incident.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Dunkwa municipal hospital morgue for autopsy.
