The Mponoahene of Akyem Kotoku, Dr. Richard Boakye Darkwah III, has asserted that the communities within the Abirem constituency that have been named after sensitive organs of the human body could serve as tourist towns which could generate a lot of funds for the state.
In the Abirem constituency, there are four communities named after sexual organs: TW3NWINSO, ETW3 NIM NYANSA, KOTE Y3 ABOA, and HWOA Y3 MMOBO.
On the floor of Parliament Wednesday, the Minister of Energy, Hon. Boakye Agyarko submitted that the said communities, which had been deprived of electricity over the years, will soon be connected to the national grid.
It is reported that parliamentarians could not control their laughter as the minister of Energy mentioned the names of the towns that bear the names of sexual organs.
Speaking on Accra based Okay FM, the chief submitted that there is a historical connection to why the communities in these towns were named after the sexual organs of humans.
“If we really pay attention to these towns, it could serve as tourist towns…. because a lot of people would want to go and see for themselves whether these towns exist in Ghana,”. He opined.
He, however, disclosed that the current state of the towns is nothing to write home about.
In that regard, he pleaded with Ghanaians, particularly journalists to frequently push for development for these areas.
He further admonished those who hail from these towns to feel proud and be bold in mentioning the names of these towns. He said, “If anyone hails from these towns, I urge them to be bold in mentioning the names of the towns because everyone is proud of where they come from,” he said.
